Around this time of year chickens like to take a break from laying their daily egg. It is all about conserving energy while their body prepares for the winter by shedding their old feathers in exchange for fresh new ones. It is important for us to plan months in advance for this slow down buy adding new chicks to our flock who can begin laying their eggs around the same time as the slow down. Being new farmers, we are still getting our timing right on this. Whatever the case, we have lots of happy chickens living their best life on Jamieson Farm in Springfield, Tennessee.
